We made a trip to Kelantan to attend Kak Ewa's Wedding. My high school mate. Appu, Amma, Jasmine, Me and Julie (my bestie since high school). The drive from Penang to KB took about 5 and half hours.

Checked-in at Flora Place along Jalan Kebun Sultan which was walking distance to Siti Khadijah Market (Tourist Attraction). Quite a decent place with affordable rates.

We were there for 2 nights. We covered :
3 Buddhist Temples - Sleeping Buddha, Sitting Buddha and Walking Buddha
2 Night Markets (1 at KB town itself and another was the famous one at Wakaf Che Yeh),
Kak Ewa's Akad Nikah and Sanding,
Pantai Cahaya Bulan,
a Thai-Chinese Restaurant for a yummylicious dinner hosted by Julie's cousin,
Pasar Siti Khadijah where we did most of our shopping
Kampung Kraftangan for Cikgu's Nasi Ulam

Korean Restaurant - DAORAE

Had a family dinner (mum's treat) on Friday as sister was home from Singapore (she works there).

My mum is Korean drama freak... How freak??? She watches the same serial - Full-House for the 4th time... All over again and not get bored of it... Every time I go her place, the Astro channel will be stuck at the Korean channel unless Jazzy hijacks the TV to watch her Bambi...

So my mum decided to treat us to Korean delight.. I suggested Doarae as I've been there with my bestie, Julie.. All of us enjoyed the food and the ambiance there. When I went there Julie, I thought it was expensive.. It was only 2 of us and the portion was huge and I think we over ordered the dishes.. Then I realized that it was much more worth it if you go in groups.. You'll have a variety of food and the price is reasonable.. Please don't OVER order the rice.. It's sticky rice. Many of us in fact all of us only manage to eat half of the small silver bowl except my hubby who don't believe in wasting it.. *giggles*

RATING: Food was delicious and loving the environment..

It's located at I-Avenue, Bukit Jambul and the other is at Tanjung Tokong.. I think they have branch in other states too...

Road Trip - Perak

First of all... Congratulations to our football team who won the Suzuki Cup.... You have done Malaysia proud!!!!

Since PM declared a PH on 31st Dec, we decided to drive to Ipoh for the long weekend.. I rushed to finish my school work and finally we left Penang at 9ish on Thursday Night... Then on Friday, we made an impromptu decision to have lunch at Kampung Koh then adjourned to Teluk Batik to spend time by the beach and shop at Lumut....

 Sorry, I forgot to take pictures of the dishes.. It always happened to me when it comes to food...Hehehe.. The 4 of us (Papa, Mummy, Appu and I) and Jazzy had... Black Pepper Mud Crab, Clams, Steamed Garoupa, Squids, Fried Mee Hoon including 4 glasses of Toddy and 2 Coconut Juice... The bill was only RM98.00. Unbelievable!!!! The food was CHEAP and YUMMYLICIOUS...

Then, we drove to Lumut to get my stock of ikan bilis and other delicacies such as Dahfa fish strips, Fish Satay and many more...

Girl's Day Out!!

It has been ages since I met my besties (Zahhira & Yolanda).. So I decided to kidnap them... We checked out Straits Quay.... It's not fully occupied yet but the place is awesome.. We parked our self at Bella Marino. It's one of Zahhira's friend's, Prem, place. Prem is also the chef there... I've been to Bella Italia where Prem worked before... Tried the lamb shank but the one I had yesterday...was simply irresistible..

I like the place! Very Cozy!

ROTL Reunion (18Dec-21Dec)

Return of The Losers or ROTL....actual formation date is unknown but the original members were branded 'losers' for the following reasons...
1. Being stuck to Bollywood movies
2. Inability to sustain a relationship till marriage (was eliminated as Appu got married and Reimi is getting there soon..)
3. Inherent ability to cause public embarassment
The original members were Dev, Reimi, Jacqueline, Appu & Joyce....and later new members Shubie & Jasmine Asha were added. ROTL proved to be active in the constant ability of the team members to exhibit the 3 mentioned traits throughout the ROTL gatherings and reunions...

Joyce, Reimi and Dev arrived first about 2ish... I served them Laksa Lemak Udang.. Don't know why it was not as tasty as the previous one I made... Hmmm... *sulking* Anyway, after having lunch we supposed to go to airport to fetch the last member of ROTL. But before that, we plan to make a banner to welcome her. Joyce, Reimi, Jasmine (yeah she contributed too) and I started making the banner and greeted Jacqueline’s arrival at the arrival hall…

1st day – Dinner : Good All Food Court @ Jalan Bagan Jermal
2nd day – Lunch : Tajuddin Husin Nasi Kandar, Dessert : Cendol, Dinner : Bagan, Supper : Redbox Karaoke

3rd day – Lunch : Line Clear Nasi Kandar, Tea : Mum’s Mee Hoon, Dinner : Teluk Kumbar Sefood
Final day – Breakfast : Egg + Bacon + Mushroom with bread, Lunch : Mamak Mee Goreng, Hameed 'Pata' Special, Padang Kota

We bumped into Chef Wan at Line Clear Nasi Kandar… He was shooting for a cook show and asked hubby’s permission to cut his queue. So he stood between me and Appu.. He is very friendly guy… Just like you see him on TV.

On Monday, they left to Taiping to continue their eating spree… I enjoy hosting so much and loved their company. Hopefully they will plan another reunion next year.. Miaow....

'Lau-sai'

I got diarrhea since yesterday. Actually 3 of us - including Mother and Appu. Not sure what we really ate but we whacked all the Raya goodies.

This morning, the 3 of us went to Nagama (Snake Goddess) Temple at Silibin. Appu found a green-colored snake at our Penang house balcony. So, my father in-law said that we should go to Nagama Temple to pray. Later, we went to Taoist Temple - Tow Boo Keong. It was my first time stepping into a Taoist temple. Since it was a Saturday and a special week as the Taoist celebrating 9 Emperors God festival, the temple was crowded and smoky (due to the joss-stick smoke). The smoke was like smoking for a year compressed in one day! Lol! We bought the joss-sticks and lotus paste buns as an offerings to the Gods. After praying, we went to the food court which is just behind the temple. You can get all the vegetarian food there - mee hoon, rice with dishes, desserts, popiah and other 'kuih-muih'. Of course I bought back food for myself. My fav - fried mee hoon.

Today's lunch was Sliced Ginger Fish, Blanched Watercress, Fried Pomfret with Black Pepper Sauce and Aunty Sham's famous Kerabu Mee Hoon (Sorry Jacquie and Joyce... I've eaten your portion..). I always look forward to Mother's food. It's always something new and the great part is it adds to my recipe collection. Dinner was something simple but I must say the simple things are the BEST! It was Fried Sardines, Blanched Okra, Sambal Belacan and 'Rasum'. Are you drooling? I am.. actually...

Some updates on the wedding... Mother has just paid the deposit for Syuen Hotel. I only need to confirm on the backdrop which I need Jacquie's help and we'll confirm on the wedding cards by tomorrow. So far, the Ipoh dinner is under control. Left with getting costumes for Appu and Mother.

Great place to dine - Audees

I actually managed to bake a chocolate cake for Appu Boy's Birthday. The cake was from a recipe book (more like a magazine) titled Everyday Food by Woman' s Day which I bought in Melbourne. The magazine is all about "Eat more, weigh less". The recipe is coming up in the next posting.

We celebrated Appu Boy's birthday at a restaurant called Audees. Just the two of us. It's a jazz and wine restaurant which serve fusion food - Italian and Western dish with a twist of Asian flavour. I love the ambiance. It's cozy but classy. The service... I would say FIRST CLASS!

As I placed the cake on the table, the waiter offered to store the cake in the chiller so that we can indulge the cake as dessert later. This is what I call initiative, which we rarely get in Malaysia's service industry. I've ordered The Ostrich - Mushroom cream pasta with Ostrich sausages and Appu ordered The Black Cod (he LOVES fish!) for main course. We've also ordered a starter and clam chowder. I don't have any picture of it because we whacked the starter and soup immediately when it arrived at the table. Lol. Oh ya! I brought the camera but only to realise that I left the memory card in my laptop!!!! Arghhh!!!! So I manage to take a few snaps with my Motorola E1030...

After the main course, the waiter asked whether we were keen on their dessert. It seems the dessert there such as Cream Amurula Souffle and Green Tea Ice Cream Cake are famous. Unfortunately, I have to give a pass considering that I've brought my homemade cake. Since I'm a amateur in baking, so the cake was a plain choc cake. The waiter asked whether we want it to be decorated. Of course, I do!!!! My heavens!! They really went the extra mile to make the day so memorable for us.

After about 15 minutes, the lights went off. The waiter together with Mr. Balan (Chef de cuisine) walked toward our table with the decorated cake. There's a candle as well!!!. Although it was Appu's birthday but I was the one who's getting so emotional. They sang Happy Birthday song and waited for Appu to blow the candle. It was a memorable night indeed! The crew offered to cut the cake and we offered them some. It was first choc cake and I'm proud to say it turned out well.. Yummy!!

Audees made our night so complete!!! The food is great and the service is EXCELLENT!!!! They open daily for lunch and dinner. Contact no. 604 - 229 8022. Double thumbs up for this place!
